Art cities rich in history , such as Split, Trogir and Dubrovnik; the fascination of beautiful islets, among which Hvar, Brac, the Kornati archipelago and Vis ,visited by sailors from the world.
In Dalmatia, the architectures call to our mind ancient dominations, from North to South: plenty of Venetian style buildings as far as Trogir, Roman grandness in Split, Bizantine splendour in Dubrovnik.
The rest is white stone, not just a simple aesthetic detail, but an evident and unitary mark which characterizes a maze of alleys and streets , together with amazing architectures which can impress even expert visitors accustomed to art beauties.
The prince of Dalmatian cuisine is fish and it can’t be otherwise: dried salt cod, octopus and cuttlefish to suit all tastes. Strong flavours, in all cases, reinforced by the typical ways of preparation, such as “peka”, that is slow cooking in a saucepan covered with embers, the secret which makes Dalmatian food special and tasty.
Typical music in the air, wherever you go, to dance in the “konobe” (taverns) at a certain time at night or in the numerous festivals which make every summer so lively. Even trendy discos in the main cities offer a bit of folk music to make nights more enjoyable. A Kind of music which sounds to inexperienced listeners like a mixture of sirtaki and Mexican tunes, the best music in the world according to Dalmatians.
