Three thousand years of history and colonizations are kept in small poetic caskets with real gems, such as Ragusa or Syracuse.
Besides, the unique colours of Sicily: the dark grey of the lava beaches, the colourful cultivations in Catania Plain, the pale green of Vendicari Natural Reserve.

Plenty of vegetables, which embellish colourful and unusual quiches; lots of aubergines, prepared in an incredible variety of sauces, “caponata” (aubergines, capers, celery and olives in sweet-and-sour sauce) to try with flat bread and a number of different kinds of bread.
Besides, almond delicacies, ice creams, crushed ice drinks, “cannoli” (Sicilian pastry rolls with sweet filling) and dried fruit.
The village fairs are the trademark of the region. Local fairs go on for weeks, accompanied with long religious processions. A slow rite, perfectly attuned to a typically Sycilian concept of time.
